The Razer Phone 2 succeeded the original Razer Phone more than a year ago. To be more precise, the second-generation Razer Phone arrived in October 2018, but there are still no signs of a successor to date.
Matter of fact, it’s likely that there won’t be a Razer Phone 3 and if it does come around, there is a feeling that it won’t arrive anytime soon.
Regardless of whether a new Razer Phone is released in the near future or not, what Razer needs is to step up its software updates. The Razer Phone 2, for instance, last picked up a new software update in mid-October.
The update brought September patches, meaning that Razer Phone 2 owners are likely to cross over into 2020 with a 3-month old security patch. This, however, was the global unlocked model.
Owners of the original Razer Phone are far much better off than their counterparts. About two weeks ago, the device received a huge update carrying November security patches alongside a couple of bug fixes and optimizations.
This is the same security patch level on the AT&T variant of the Razer Phone 2, which typically gets software updates ahead of the global unlocked model. Granted, the unlocked Razer Phone 2 should also get its November patch anytime.
For those who enjoy taking matters into their own hands, Razer has finally published the factory images for the latest Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 updates.
This means you can now download the files and install them manually on your handset. However, you must first comment/remove this line from flash_all.sh or .bat: %fastboot_cmd% erase userdata.
With the above in mind, you can now grab the files below and install them manually on your specific Razer Phone handset.
