Many video games secretly use the word “support” when they actually mean “healer.” But Rainbow Six Extraction doesn’t fall into that trap. Yes, most support operators help with either scanning or traditional healing, but that is exactly why Rook is so unique.

By giving body armor to the entire squad (and himself), Rook can reduce damage to everyone by 40% after he’s been leveled up. This is generally preferred to traditional healing since it makes the most of existing health. With the right setup, Rook isn’t just Rainbow Six Extraction’s premier support hero, he’s a force all on his own.

Primary Weapon - SG-CQB

  • Holographic Sights Vertical Grip

Players might want to consider rapidly accumulating experience for Rook since his best gun is also the last one he unlocks. his other weapon choices are automatic and capable of being silenced, but primary weapons are meant for when opponents are alerted and attacking, not for quiet moments.

The SG-CQB has the stopping power to bring down an enemy with each squeeze of the trigger. Rook has a tough kill and while traditional tanking might not exist in the game, he’ll certainly be on the front lines, so a shotgun is better suited to the task.

Secondary Weapon - P9

  • Suppressor

It is hard to state exactly how badly the LFP586 performs. As the starting weapon for Rook, this revolver hits hard, but it can’t be silenced, takes forever to reload, and has an unbelievably strong kick on the recoil. The P9’s only disadvantage is that it doesn’t hit quite as hard.

But this hardly matters as the stealthy weapon choice. It’s still plenty strong enough to bring down an opponent with a single weak spot hit from across the map. Consider making Rook one of the first operators to level up so that he has access to his best weaponry.

Explosive Tech - Recon Vapor Device

Rook is strong when it comes to support but many squads will be disappointed that he isn’t able to see through walls like other recon operators. Taking damage from these mystery rooms leads to long sessions of healing in between each mission.

But Rook has a way of covering this base if he’s willing to sacrifice his explosive slot. The Recon Vapor Device reveals everything in a room in a wide radius. Toss this in and Rook will have nobody complaining about a lack of eyes on targets.

Gear - Recon Drone

The Recon Drone is hard to recommend for most players. Since it requires manual control, the player can control the device but not themselves while it is active. But Rook is not a primary damage dealer and he’s not a stealth operative, those are tasks left to the rest of the team.

And since his support doesn’t require him being around, he can feel free to hang back and tag targets with the Recon Drone. Rook stays safe, allies are alerted to threats, everybody wins. Between uses, Rook as Recon Vapor Devices he can toss in after catching up with the squad.

Rainbow Six Extraction was released on January 20th, 2022, and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
