A specially-abled woman was allegedly denied to enter a famous restaurant in Gurugram, Haryana. In a Twitter poster, the woman claimed that the staff barred her from entering the restaurant and saying she will ‘disturb’ other customers.
The woman named Srishti posted a tweet on Twitter and shared the whole incident of the experience of the restaurant.
I went to my @raastagurgaon with my best friend and her fam last night. This was one of my first outings in so long and I wanted to have fun. Bhaiya (my friend’s elder brother) asked for a table for four. The staff at the desk ignored him twice. 1/n

She said that after a very long time she has gone out with her friend to a family restaurant Rassta in Gurugram on Friday evening. When her friend’s brother went to book a table they ignored him twice. The staff said, “Wheelchair andar nahi jaayegi”, At first Srishti thought it is the accessibility issue but soon enough to realise that the staff meant, ” Andar customer disturb ho jaayenge.

Later the founder Partner at Raasta took to Twitter to post an apology and said, “We are deeply regretful of the episode that took place at Raasta Gurgaon on Friday evening. We stand for inclusivity and would never want anyone to feel singled out for any reason,” Goumtesh Singh said in a statement. “As a part of our efforts, we have already reached out to the aggrieved patron to personally apologise to them. We are also taking steps internally to heighten sensitivity and empathy for our staff to ensure this never happens again,” read the statement.

Later on, in this incident flood of tweets came due to the terrible incident, this includes Pooja Bhatt, who said, “Am terribly saddened that this happened to you. We suffer from an absolute lack of grace as a society. Wheelchair accessibility is one thing but refusing to see a human being who is confined to one as an equal and deserving of dignity is quite another. 🙏”
