Procreate lets you create high-quality artwork with breathtaking filters and a library of thousands of importable brushes. The brushes range anywhere from basic sketching to calligraphy.

The app has got an update that includes a Gallery Preview feature that brings your artwork to life as a 3D animated preview, as well as better Brush Cursor outline options to enhance blending.

Procreate resetting default brush settings

However, with this update Procreate started resetting default brush settings which has not gone down well with its users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8).

The default brush settings worked well for graphic designers in the previous version, so they never bothered changing them.

However, this update changed the settings, forcing users to adjust their long-standing painting habits, which is inconvenient.

Procreate support has acknowledged this issue and has clarified that this was an intentional change as it was necessary for the introduction of the ‘Brush Studio’ feature:

Custom brush settings affected as well

However, illustrators are reporting that their custom brush settings are getting affected as well (1,2,3,4,5).

The custom settings are based on the default brush settings. So when the developers made the tweaks to the default settings, that in turn affected the custom settings.

This problem has severely impacted designers who were in the middle of a project since their specific settings were abruptly reset with this update.

Users have to manually adjust the settings to restore everything to its previous state, which is quite inconvenient for them.

The support team is shocked to see this change affecting custom settings as it was only meant to reset default settings.

Some have even requested the ability to use the legacy brush settings so that they may choose whatever they like.

We hope that developers will quickly fix the problem so that designers may resume sketching. When they do, we will update this article accordingly, so stay tuned.
