In response to the most recent US Supreme Court decision, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has voiced her distress. The Indian actress commented on author Michelle Obama’s post about the ruling on abortion rights on her Instagram account. Michelle Obama is the wife of former US President Barack Obama.
High profile people have been opposing the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that protected women’s reproductive rights.
The actress then shared a sorrowful comment given by Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, in another post that also featured a cartoon comparing American gun ownership with abortion rights.
In her statement, Michelle Obama expressed her “heartbreak” about the choice.
“So yes, I am heartbroken, for the teenage girl, full of zest and promise, who won’t be able to finish school or live the life she wants because her state controls her reproductive decisions; for the mother of a nonviable pregnancy who is now forced to bring that pregnancy to term; for the parents watching their child’s future evaporate before their very eyes; for the health care workers who can no longer help them without risking jail time.”
