In the past installments, Pokemon games allowed players to create special treats for their Pokemon that would improve their chances of winning Pokemon Contests. Trainers were incapable of creating man-made items such as Potions and Poke Balls. Pokemon Legends: Arceus features a brand-new way to obtain items: crafting.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus has many resources that can be picked up all around Hisui such as berries, apricorns, and ore. One of the less-common resources in the starting area, the Obsidian Fieldlands, is wood.
Where to Find Wood in the Obsidian Fieldlands
The materials in Aspiration Hill and the Horseshoe Plains will be apricorns, medicinal leeks, tumblestones, and berries. Once trainers progress the story and defeat Mai, they’ll be able to explore more of the Obsidian Fieldlands. They’ll notice that the remaining part of the Obsidian Fieldlands is very mountainous and can be difficult to climb until they unlock Wyrdeer. More resources also become open to trainers such as iron chunks and, of course, wood.
Despite there being a number of trees, wood can be difficult to find. The easiest place to gather some is right before the Deertrack Path. There’s a road that leads to the left by the river that divides the Obsidiand Fieldlands. Look closely at the ground for any wood that may be by the trees and be careful of Buizels. Like Shinx, Buizel are aggressive Pokemon and will attack on sight. These Buizel are a bit tougher than the Buizels found in the Horseshoe Plains.
What Can Be Crafted from Wood?
Once trainers get closer to unlocking the rest of the Obsidian Flatlands, they’ll be able to take more requests. One of these requests is called “Please! Make me a Pokeshi Doll!” Speak to the owner of the crafts store in Jubilife Village to accept the request. He’ll want three logs of wood and give Rei/Akari the recipe to craft the Pokeshi Doll. Make a Pokeshi Doll with the wood, and he’ll hand over his own Pokeshi Doll as thanks.
A Pokeshi Doll doesn’t serve a purpose in battle, but it can be sold for 1000 at the store. Since money can be hard to come by in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, selling Pokeshi Dolls is a good way to fill up the wallet at the start of the game. Money is especially important if players intend on expanding their satchel to carry more items/materials.
