Pokemon GO has a constant stream of events to keep players engaged, and the latest one is now live in the game (in most regions). The Pokemon GO Solstice Event is back for 2021, starring the Pokemon Lunatone and Solrock, with a variety of other bonuses for fans to take advantage of as well. Anyone interested in taking part in the Pokemon GO Solstice Event should note that it will be live in the game from June 17 at 10:00am local time until June 20 at 8:00pm local time.
While the Pokemon GO Solstice Event 2021 is live, fans of the game all over the world can encounter Lunatone, Solrock, and Spheal in the wild. Snorlax is also appearing in the wild during the event, but Snorlax spawns in Pokemon GO will be much rarer than the other Pokemon during the event. In the meantime, northern hemisphere Pokemon GO players can also encounter Chimchar, Summer Form Deerling, and Yanma, with the latter’s shiny variant also available. Pokemon GO raids in the northern hemisphere will star Alolan Marowak, Petilil, Yanma, and various others.
Southern hemisphere Pokemon GO players, meanwhile, will encounter Snorunt, Snover, and Winter Form Deerling, with Shiny Snorunt spawning as well. In raids, Pokemon GO players in the southern hemisphere can encounter Lapras, Piloswine, and Snorunt. Klink, Lunatone, and Solrock will be appearing in raids globally.
Speaking of raids, the Pokemon GO Solstice Event is bringing with it a change to five-star raids. From now until Thursday, July 1 at 10:00am local time, Pokemon GO players can encounter Regigigas in 5-star raids, with the chance to catch a shiny. Raid-specific Field Research tasks are also being added to the game to help celebrate the return of Regigigas. Additionally, event-exclusive field research with unique encounters can be found at PokeStops during the Solstice Event’s duration.
And finally, there are some other bonuses that Pokemon GO players should be aware of if they’re participating in the Solstice Event for 2021, particularly as it pertains to Buddy Pokemon. As detailed by Niantic, Buddy Pokemon in Pokemon GO will be giving away gifts and Poke Balls on a more frequent basis while the event is live, plus their walking distance requirements to earn hearts is cut in half.
There’s a lot going on with the Pokemon GO Solstice Event for 2021, but the main draw for those who missed last year’s is the chance to catch Lunatone and Solrock. Once the event is over, Lunatone will go back to being a region-exclusive Pokemon in the eastern hemisphere, and the same goes for Solrock in the western hemisphere. Pokemon GO players who have yet to catch these Pokemon should make it a point to do so while the event is live.
Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
