The world of Pokemon is full of unique and strange creatures to catch and train. Since the series began several decades ago, the amount of unusual Pokemon added to the Pokedex is almost too many to count. Among the oddities found in the franchise is the Pokemon known as Magnemite.

First introduced in Gen 1, Magnemite is an Electric/Steel-type Pokemon. While there are a number of other Pokemon that share this type, few have as unusual a design as Magnemite. It has a chrome-like finish with several screws emerging from its body. In addition, it contains a pair of signature horseshoe magnets that allow it to hover above the ground. Finishing off the design is one massive eye in the middle of its spherical body, making it instantly recognizable to fans. Recently, one player showed off the Pokemon with updated visuals.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Borja2898 shared a video showcasing a unique animation they made based on the Pokemon series. Specifically, they chose to animate an electrified Magnemite in the 3D software known as Blender. The results of this project were impressive as the Reddit user was able to build a realistic model of the Electric/Steel-type Pokemon. One highlight of the animation was the horseshoe magnets that rotated on the sides of its body. Another nice touch was that the creator decided to add sparks that periodically were emitted from the Pokemon.

Since posting this animation on Reddit, several fans of Pokemon commented on the post. In addition, the impressive Magnemite video accumulated several hundred upvotes over the past few days as players checked out the design. Among the comments, one person praised the high quality of the visuals. Known as siniikan on Reddit, they wished that this level of graphical fidelity would be the standard for the games in the franchise. In addition, another gamer thought that the design was reminiscent of that seen on a trading card. “Reminds me of its design on the base set cards,” SuperdaveOZY said.

This is not the only fanart inspired by a Magnemite to be created over the past couple of weeks. In addition to this custom animation made by Borja2898, another gamer recently made a wooden card box featuring the design of a Magnemite on the cover. As players continue to Pokemon games, it seems only a matter of time before more artwork featuring Pokemon, such as Magnemite, is shared with the community. It will be interesting to see Borja2898 decides to make even more animations for other Pokemon in the franchise in the days ahead.
