Last month’s additions to PlayStation Now were some of its biggest to date, seeing the likes of Marvel’s Avengers and Borderlands 3 join the streaming service’s lineup. Today, the PlayStation Blog announced which games would be headlining this month’s additions, with three new titles becoming available for subscribers on May 4.
The games in question are Jump Force, Nioh, and Streets of Rage 4, with the trio of titles available to stream in 1080p thanks to a recently announced update coming to PS4 and PS5 consoles. Each game brings something a little different to the table, whether that’s challenging boss battles, over-the-top anime brawls, or retro side-scrolling action.
For those who haven’t played it, Jump Force is an anime fighting game that pits iconic characters from various franchises against each other. Players have the option to get stuck into a story mode or battle against their friends, with the game offering the opportunity to create dream match-ups such as Dragon Ball Z’s Goku vs Naruto or Hunter x Hunter’s Gon vs My Hero Academia’s Deku. Other roster members hail from franchises such as Bleach, Yugioh, One-Piece, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, City Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho. The game will be available on PlayStation Now until August 2, 2021.
As for Nioh, the game is a punishing action-adventure developed by Team Ninja. It allows players to assume the role of William Adams, as the fearless warrior battles imposing demons and intimidating bosses. The game has gone on to become something of a cult classic, attracting fans of punishing games with its brutal combat and unique Sengoku-period Japan setting. The title went on to spawn a sequel through Nioh 2, which expanded on the style and gameplay of its predecessor. Both Nioh and its sequel got next-generation ports back in February of this year.
Finally, Streets of Rage 4 is a retro callback to the iconic beat ’em ups of yesteryear, sporting a vivid animated art style, satisfying combat, and a catchy, 90s inspired soundtrack. The title became a hit when it released last year, generating positive reactions from critics and fans, with reactions celebrating its charming revival of such a beloved genre. Streets of Rage 4 will stick around on PlayStation Now until November 1, 2021.
The new trio of games will join PlayStation Now’s current lineup, which also boasts the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, Bloodborne, and Hollow Knight. It also has a range of classic PlayStation 3 games players can stream, including the Uncharted trilogy, The Last of Us, BioShock, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and many more.
