The autoplay option is a godsend for binge-watchers since it means you don’t have to lift a finger once an episode ends because the next one starts immediately.
Streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney Plus were among the first to implement this feature. Peacock also has an autoplay function, but users want it to be tweaked.
Peacock on or off toggle for auto-play
According to reports, some Peacock users have been requesting for the ‘on or off’ toggle to be added to the app for the auto-play feature (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9).
The issue is that if a user falls asleep while viewing a show, they wake up with 5-6 episodes already streaming. Sometimes the ending of the show is exposed to them, rendering watching the show obsolete.
Furthermore, those impacted claim that the content that is auto-played is not always relevant to what they would consider their normal viewing habits.
So, an easy solution to this problem is to provide an on/off toggle, which has been requested for years but has fallen on deaf ears.
Moreover, these movies or episodes wind up in a viewer’s ‘continue watching’ queue, which irritates them greatly because there is no way to remove them from there (1,2,3).
In this day and age, when practically all other streaming services allow you to toggle this function on and off, it’s odd that Peacock still doesn’t.
We hope that the company takes note of this feature request and implements it as soon as possible. That said, we will keep you updated on newer developments on the matter, so keep an eye on this article.
