New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 11, 2022) follows:

Overwatch 2, the most recent installment in the ‘Hero Shooter’ saga from Activision-Blizzard, continues to give people something to talk about. However, lately there has been more talk about its multiple problems than its virtues.

We recently covered how players have been dealing with issues like progression missing after merging PC and console accounts, heroes being locked with no apparent explanation, or content packs not working.

Now, Overwatch 2 players report that Zarya, one of the game’s heroes, is overpowered or unkillable in Total Mayhem game mode.

Overwatch 2 Zarya reportedly unkillable in Total Mayhem, players demand nerf

‘Total Mayhem’ is a classic Overwatch game mode that was already present in the original game. During Total Mayhem matches, all heroes have a 75% cooldown buff for many abilities and double ‘life bar’.

However, it seems that those conditions are making one character in particular almost invincible: Zarya. Apparently, she is able to take a large amount of damage and still stay on her feet.

According to multiple reports, Zarya is practically immune to damage in Total Mayhem. She reportedly can maintain or quickly regenerate the ‘bubble shield’ that surrounds her.

You can see the problem in the video below:

I come with a complaint about the game mode of “Total Chaos” and it is regarding Zarya’s character, due to the change that the character had to have 2 bubbles in a row, causes that in “Total Chaos”, she becomes invincible, Source

PLEASE Nerf Zarya bubble in total mayhem (or temporarily disable her until fixed), she has a perpetual bubble making a game mode which is meant to be fast-paced and short, into a 2 hour ordeal where the rest of us are either held hostage or forced to leave. She is literally immortal. Thanks! Source

Potential counter for Zarya

Many players are asking for a nerf for Zarya in Total Mayhem. However, as long as the character is still ‘broken’, there seems to be a potential counter.

Multiple Overwatch 2 players agree that currently, you can only hope to beat Zarya in Total Mayhem if you use Sombra. Apparently, her combination of damage and abilities is the most effective against Zarya’s abilities.

There is still no official word from Activision-Blizzard on this situation. We will update this story once new relevant events arise.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to bring this up… but total mayhem is just NOT playable or fun with Zarya’s new changes. She’s LITERALLY invincible unless there’s a Sombra, that’s the only way to even touch her lol. Source

Can someone on the dev team please look into the balancing of total mayhem? it was already annoying dealing with winston and slightly less so moira and zar, but with the changes, zar is almost invincible, you need a sombra to even attempt killing her if her team has a healer Source
