On Friday, The 2022 Oscar-winning actor, Will Smith on his official Youtube Channel releases a 5-minute video where he apologizes to the American comedian, Chris Rock, and his family for slapping him at the Oscars.

In the video, Smith says, “Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Smith also apologizes to Chris’s mother and the entire family, specifically his brother, Tony Rock. He says that he and Tony shared a great relationship.

Smith tells his viewers that no part of him believes that slapping the comedian was the right way to behave in that moment.

“There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults,” the fifty-three-year-old said.

Smith began his career starring as a fictionalized version of himself on the NBC sitcom The Fresh prince of Bel-Air (1990–1996). Apart from winning an Academy Award, he has won four Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Tony Award. As of 2021, his films have grossed over $9.3 billion globally, making him one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars.
