OnePlus as a brand is very user-centered. In line with that, the company often holds engagement forums for users to air their views and have OnePlus management listen in.
Back in November, we got word of an upcoming Open Ear Forum that was set to be centered around privacy matters, community, and OS design.
Well, the event did take place as scheduled and unlike previous years, this one was held virtually. In the OEF, a few interesting points were put across. For users that weren’t able to attend, here is a quick recap.
On matters privacy, a few issues came to light and in response, OnePlus plans to improve a few aspects of its operations. These improvements are then set to trickle down to OxygenOS in subsequent updates.
These improvements are set to be focused on the implementation of two-factor authentication, hidden space and permission history.
The OnePlus community is at the heart of the company’s operations. This, therefore, only goes to mean that OnePlus lays a lot of emphasis on this aspect.
In the OEF held on November 30, OnePlus resolved to bring a few improvements to this OnePlus community.
OxygenOS 11 has drawn various reactions from OnePlus fans due to its drastic design change compared to previous iterations.
On December 10, OnePlus held an Open Ear Forum with OS design being the subject of discussion. These are some of the points to take home from that seminar.
Perhaps the takeaway from this is the expected improvements in scrolling smoothness and stability of the Gallery app in future OxygenOS updates.
OnePlus says that some of what was discussed is still under wraps and the company still can’t share much about it, at least for now.
We can, therefore, only hope that many of these suggestions and concerns will be addressed or implemented by OnePlus in future OxygenOS updates where applicable.
It is refreshing to see an OEM taking such an active role in engaging with its customers. We can only hope that other OEMs adopt a similar approach.

OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T are reportedly experiencing an issue with the Gallery app on OxygenOS 11. According to users, the app fails to load images immediately. More on that here
