OnePlus has been in the weeds over the past several months following the rollout of its Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 that was bug-ridden.

The company has since been steadily fixing these bugs and issues while also working to test and roll out stable Android 11 builds to its eligible devices.

While doing this, we’ve seen the company maintaining a pretty healthy channel of communication between the various developer teams and the users of OnePlus devices.

Consequently, OnePlus publishes these monthly frequently asked questions, a list of the most pressing issues faced by users of OnePlus over the said month.

To recall, we have talked about one of these highlighted issues that involved apps crashing randomly. This issue, as it turned out, was due to a buggy Android System Webview update from Google.

A: In this case, please check whether the OnePlus moving version numbers on your new and old phones are the same. If they are not the same, please update the OnePlus moving version of your old phone to the latest version v 2.6.6.0, and repeat according to the guidelines operating. If the above situation is excluded, please report the problem through the community bug feedback area.

Q: Why didn’t the theme settings in the settings be moved over when you moved?

A: For Android 7.1 and earlier systems and Android 8.1 systems, some models are temporarily unable to relocate personalized settings. If necessary, please set it manually after moving.

A: This problem is known and we will fix it in the future. If you encounter this problem, please try to move the app separately after completing the relocation of other content, or use the chat history migration function that comes with the app.

Q: Why have multiple applications crashed on the phone recently?

A: This issue is known. The assessment is mainly due to the issue caused by the version update of Android System Webview. Google has fixed this issue and re-listed the new version. Just go to the Play Store to search for Android System WebView and update to the latest version. The version is fine. If the problem is still not resolved, please provide feedback via the Community APP-Feedback Zone.

Q: The alarm clock does not ring on legal working days.

It is important to note that these changes apply to OnePlus’ China-exclusive Android skin, HydrogenOS. However, history shows us that many of these changes will make their way to OxygenOS users as well.

A: The camera “time watermark” function has been developed and has been merged into the public beta of OnePlus 8/8 Pro 8th edition and OnePlus 8T 1st edition. The setting path of the time watermark is as follows: Camera Settings-Shot on OnePlus Watermark-Time.

Q: Can you add a hidden switch to the shortcut buttons at the bottom of the OnePlus 7/7T series keyboards of “Retract the keyboard” and “Select input method”?

A: This feature can be experienced in the latest stable version of OnePlus 7/7 Pro/7T/7T Pro. You can choose whether to display the shortcut operation bar at the bottom of the keyboard. The current version is being pushed gradually. After receiving the push, you can set it in the following path: Settings-System-Language and input method-Click “Keyboard bottom height adjustment” to adjust it as needed.

It is refreshing to see a company staying true to its roots and being as consumer-oriented as any OEM can be. We can only hope that OnePlus does find a way to bounce back to glory.

[Q: When transferring data to a new device with OnePlus Switch, it shows that it cannot proceed because the app version of the old device is not the latest.] A: In this case, please check whether the version of the OnePlus Switch on your old device is the same as the one on your new device. [Q: Why do the apps on my phone keep crashing so often recently?] A: This problem is caused due to the updates of Android System WebView. Google has fixed this issue and released an update.
