New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on September 23, 2020) follows:

OnePlus is one of the few companies that has thrived on the back of user feedback. The company takes great effort in ensuring that it listens and acts accordingly to all forms of feedback provided by users.

This is one of the reasons OnePlus and the OxygenOS software that powers the company’s phones on the global scene have become such a common occurrence in the smartphone industry over the past few years.

Through its community forum, OnePlus collects various forms of feedback that it uses to shape the future of products, both hardware and software.

In response to the above query, OnePlus says it has plans to launch a dedicated app to manage OnePlus audio accessories. This app will be made available to all devices on Android Marshmallow and above, including non-OnePlus devices.

The company also notes that by the time the said app is released, the much-requested double-tap function customization will be available. Unfortunately, there is no specific date for this.

For users of OnePlus 6 and newer devices who are unhappy with recent OxygenOS updates that bundle the OnePlus Buds app, the company also says future OxygenOS updates will enable the option to uninstall the app.

Responding to the concern above, OnePlus says Google recommends that app icons appear on the status bar when you receive other notifications. Even so, users will soon get the option to choose “Hide or enable icons of other notifications”.

As noted earlier, OnePlus doesn’t go into specifics of when exactly these features will be made available for eligible devices. Matter of fact, it remains unclear whether those eligible for OxygenOS 11 will have to wait until the Android 11-based update arrives.

But of course, we will be keeping our eyes open and update this post whenever we come across new developments. Meanwhile, those still unsure about their devices Android 11 eligibility can route here.

We also have a dedicated tracker to follow OnePlus Android 11 update plans here. We recommend you keep an eye on it to know when your device bags the update.

Update 1 (October 02)

The latest OxygenOS 10.5.8 update for the OnePlus Nord has brought along the highly-requested feature to hide silent notifications from the status bar. It also carries a few optimizations and fixes along with the September patch.

It’s rolling out as version 10.5.8.AC01DA in India and as version 10.5.8.AC01AA on Global units. European models will get it soon as version 10.5.8.AC01BA.
