Founded in December of 2013, OnePlus is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer owned by Oppo which is, in turn, a subsidiary of BBK Electronics.
Known for making flagship killer devices, the brand is praised by Android enthusiasts worldwide because of its price to performance ratio and software experience.
However, after the release of OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12, many say that the latest version of their operating system has removed several useful features and has a close resemblance with ColorOS.
A few weeks later, OnePlus halted the rollout of OxygenOS 12 after users complained about poor performance.
That being said, those who updated to OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12 are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) that they are getting a ‘Unsupported device’ error when trying to use Oxygen Updater.
If you don’t know, Oxygen Updater is an unofficial app that allows you to download the latest software for your phone including security patches.
Many OnePlus users are now confused as to what is happening and why their phone is suddenly unsupported. You can see the error message in the image below.
Fortunately, the Oxygen Updater developer has commented on the matter and said that they are indeed aware of the issue where OnePlus users who updated to OxygenOS 12 are getting a ‘Unsupported device’ error.
They said that is a bug and clarified that the devices are still supported.

12:50 pm (IST): Regarding the unsupported device error of the OnePlus Oxygen update, devs now say that the app delivered the update to Nord 2 even before this commit.
But users could have ignored the unsupported warning and it would have worked properly after enabling the advanced mode. Here’s the full explanation for this behavior.

01:02 am (IST): The developer has confirmed that the issue with Oxygen Updater ‘Unsupported device’ error has now been fixed.
